Course Summary: This course taught me an abundance of skills from HTML, CSS, WordPress, Bootstrap, JavaScript and so much more. Each of those skills was exercised through a project. The first project, Uncommon Dogs, was a hand-coded HTML/CSS site where I learned the basics of the language. The next project was the Bootstrap Triptych, in which I went from a basic HTML/CSS site to a site made with a Bootstrap template, then a customized CSS Bootstrap template. That project taught me what Bootstrap was, how to use it, and what all is possible with it. Project three was a WordPress Variety Pack where I created two separate WordPress sites using additional CSS and plugins. I learned how to take a WordPress site to the next level and make it more advanced. Project four was called JavaScript Arcade. This project gave me the opportunity to challenge and help me stretch my web developer muscles with JavaScript. It allowed me to learn how HTML, CSS, and JS all work together to create something interactive and fun. The last project of this course was a speculative redesign of the Yale School of Art website. Through this project, I was able to enhance my skills on WordPress, overcome challenges with my server, and grow as a web designer. Not only did I learn and gain so many new skills in new media production through this course, I know other valuable skills such as time management and file organization which have made me better suited to accomplish my professional goals after completing this course.
