Course Summary: This course taught me an abundance of skills from Adobe Xd, Adobe Spark, UX, UI and so much more. Each of those skills was exercised through individual and collaborative projects. The first project, Tools and Theory Web Design, was a simulation project where I was paired up with a partner as my client who hired me to create a personal online portfolio for her. This included everything from logo design and branding to the actual function and content of the site itself. The project required much back and forth and communication with my client so that she would be satisfied with the final product. The next project was the Postcards from the Edge, in which I used Adobe Photoshop and Xd to create a vintage feeling postcard from my own residence. Postcards from the edge required me to use my new skills in a creative way which was so much fun. Project three, also known as The Final Boss Project, was a project in which a partner and myself teamed up to create a UX-friendly site with a supporting app. It required us to use the skills we have learned in this course by creating personas of our potential clients, communicating with one another, and really taking our design skills to the next level. I feel it is safe to say that all of the skills I learned in this course mentioned above will be used after graduation in pursuing my master’s degree and in the work field of emerging media. Not only did I learn and gain so many new skills in new media design through this course, I know other valuable skills such as working with teams, partners, and clients which has made me better suited to accomplish my professional goals after completing this course.
